Madeleine McCann's vanishing has not yet been concluded

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned communication data and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a life here in Poland, I simply desire to know," she added.

The tribunal was advised that via emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with the police force who collated the information, advised the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will continue and I will prove my claim."

Court proceedings

The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in that area in December 2024.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be treated respectfully in the time leading up to the visit to that location, the county, in that winter.

The court was told communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning attempting to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We have to assert ourselves," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their residence, Mrs Spragg transmitted a message which said: "We find ourselves sitting near the McCanns' home with our lights out resembling investigators. I wanted to do this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings proceeds.
