Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions created through the custom game tool to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one main guns available in the game.
Some of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Challenge
A different forum member brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and possibly Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are made easier in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
Currently, the community continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a fairer player experience in future updates.
