The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles

Much like the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
